We have all been in a situation where a workweek felt too long. You’re left feeling stressed, anxious and depressed. It can be hard to forget what happened and focus on your break. While healthy food is essential to your physical health, what about your mental wellbeing?

Work can get very stressful at times, and focusing on yourself will help relieve some of the pressure. Whether you need a pamper session, time away, or a good tv show to watch, there are plenty of options for you to choose from. Here are some of our favourite ways to relax after a stressful week.

Go to be early

Going to bed early may seem strange, but there are many benefits to it. The best quality sleep you can receive happens between 9 pm to 5 am. This might seem a little too early for most people, but if you’ve had a long week, there’s nothing better than being able to close your eyes and focus on nothing. You can put on your favourite podcast, read a book or watch a movie. Let your mind wander, and eventually, you’ll fall into a relaxing sleep.

Have a long bath or shower

There’s no better feeling than when you soak your problems away with a hot bath or shower. Hot water can loosen your muscles, soothe your aches and leave you feeling toasty. When you’re in the bath or shower, you can listen to your favourite music, movie, podcast or audiobook. Use your favourite bath bombs, shower soaps and any other bath product. Spend as much time as you like in the hot water and leave your worries behind.

Do a little retail therapy

Retail therapy is a form of shopping where you only spend money for items that will improve your mood. It could be a new outfit, snacks, household items or any other product you enjoy purchasing. Retail therapy allows you to focus on your wants rather than your needs. You can forget about all your concerns for a brief moment and make yourself the centre of your attention. Whether you’re doing a little shopping online or in-person, it’s a quick and easy way to boost your mood.

Put on a movie or tv show

There are so many platforms available for you to binge-watch tv shows and movies. All you need to do is put on something to watch and focus on the plot. Soon your worries and stressors for the day will be forgotten. The longer you watch, the more invested you will become. Leave work at work and put all your energy towards relaxing. You can even be a little cheeky and put together a selection of healthy snacks to enjoy as you get absorbed into your show.

Have a couple drinks

Whether you choose to have a couple at home or go out with a few friends, there’s plenty of relaxing potential. Have a glass of your favourite drinks and forget about work for the evening. You can chat with your friends, play a game or watch a movie. It’s one of the best ways to relax, and you won’t need to do much at all.
